Lemuel Bell
Bell, Lemuel Monroe passed away quietly on August 8, 2009. Born in Grand Prairie on February 19, 1923, Monroe was a loving husband to his late wife, Lois Burkley Bell, for 51 years. He was a devoted father to his children, Vicki White and husband Bill, and Dennis Bell and wife Donna. Peko, as they called him, was blessed with five grandchildren: Holly White Nunns and husband Tracy, Rebekah White Craddock and husband Eric, Jamie Bell Lawson and husband David, Tiffany Bell Hernandez and husband David, and Stuart Bell and wife Amber. He also had ten great-grandchildren. Known to friends as Lem and to family as Monroe, he served in the United States Air Corps in WWII and was called back to active duty for the Korean War. He was a pilot for Continental Airlines for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Carrollton since 1948, many years as church treasurer. Visitation at Restland on Monday, August 10, 6:00-8:00pm. Services at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, Dallas, on Tuesday, August 11, 10:00am, officiated by his son-in-law, Dr. Bill White, followed by interment with military honors. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Carrollton.
