OBITUARY
Services
for Bobby Ray Bernard, 51, were held at First Baptist Church at
Gladewater, Texas. Mr. Bernard attended school in Graham, Texas. He was
an outstanding athlete and was named High School All-American in 1957
and in 1958 in basketball. He won the Texas State Title in the hurdles
in 1957-1958. Mr. Bernard was a graduate of Texas Christian University
where he was All-Southwest Conference in basketball and won the
Southwest Conference and NCAA titles in hurdles as well as many other
track titles. He taught health and physical education in Gladewater
school since 1971 where he served as assistant football coach and head
track coach having a state championship track team in 1985. He
previously coached at Richardson, Terrell, and Kileen High Schools
before coming to Gladwater.
Survived by his wife - Linda Bernard; one son - Lance Bernard; two
daughters - Heather Bernard and Julie Reed; one sister - Alice Alford;
one grandson.
