OBITUARY
BINFORD,
William R. "Bill" William R. "Bill" Binford was born April 10, 1932, in
Dallas. He married Margie on October 10, 1953 and moved to Farmers
Branch in 1955. Bill leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Margie,
daughter and son in law, Pam and Ken Sumrow of Plano and son and
daughter in law Jeff and Pam Binford of Farmers Branch, five
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with another expected in
January. Bill was an agent with Prudential for 40 years, and member of
the Dallas Association of Life Underwriters, where he served as a
director. Bill has been an active member of Christ United Methodist
Church in Farmers Branch, the Farmers Branch Jaycees, Farmers Branch
Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club. He organized and served as a
director of the Farmers Branch Bank, and its successor, Texas American
Bank. Elected to the City Council in 1969, Bill was elected Mayor in
1978. After two Mayoral terms, he left office in 1982. He subsequently
volunteered his time on various city and county boards. Bill's life
celebration will be on Saturday, November 19 at 2 p.m. at Christ United
Methodist Church in Farmers Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Christ United Methodist Church or Children's Medical Foundation.
