OBITUARY
Funeral
for Juanita Faye (Arney) Birkelbach, 85, of Rusk, was at 2 p.m. Monday
in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Noy Pruitt and
the Rev. Jim Ross officiating. Burial was in the Texas Methodist
Conference Cemetery at Lakeview near Palestine. Mrs. Birkelbach
died Jan. 14 [2000] at her home. She was born Nov 29, 1914, in
Stranger near Marlin: She attended Lon Morris College and was a graduate
of Southwestern University. She formerly resided in Farmers Branch. She
was a member of the Rusk First United Methodist Church, retired as an
English teacher in 1983 from the R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton
after 20 years of teaching. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers
Association, AAUW (American Association of University Women), Minister's
Wives of the Texas Annual Conference, a former member of the Rusk Garden
Club and a member of Phi Theta Kappa at Lon Morris College.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Elwood J. Birkelbach and a
son, Ron Birkelbach.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Pauline Birkelbach
of Bellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Fay and Lester Hughes of Rusk;
two grandsons, Mark Birkelbach of Rusk and Michael Birkelbach of
Houston; three granddaughters, Elaine Petterson of Evansville, Wisc.,
Cynthia Campbell of Henderson and Adriene Metzig of Rusk; and five great
grandchildren; two sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Agnes Jaster of
Chilton and Nevia and Bob Meisch of Marlin.
Pallbearers were Mark Birkelbach, Michael Birkelbach, Tyson Metzig,
James Campbell, Charles Hassell and Morris William Hassell. |

OBITUARY
RUSK - Services for Juanita Faye Arney Birkelbach, 85,
Rusk, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel,
Rusk, with the Revs. Noy Pruitt and Jim Ross officiating.
Burial will be in the Texas Methodist Conference Cemetery at Lakeview,
Palestine.
Mrs. Birkelbach died Jan. 14 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 20, 1914 in Stranger and lived in Farmers Branch prior
to moving to Rusk. She attended Lon Morris College where she was a member of Pho
Theta Kappa, and graduated from Southwestern University. She retired as a
schoolteacher from R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton. She was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Rusk, Texas State Teachers Association, AAUW,
Texas Annual Conference, and former member of Rusk Garden Club. She was preceded
in death by husband Elwood J. Birkelbach, and son Ron Birkelbach.
Survivors include son, John E. Birkelbach, Bellview; daughter, Fay Hughes,
Rusk; sisters,. Mary Agnes Jaster, Chilton, and Neva Mensch, Marlin, five
grandchildren; and five great-Grandchildren.
Pallbears include Mark Birkelbach, Michael Birkelbach, Tyson Metzig, James
Campbell, Charles Hassell and Morris William Hassell.
Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at funeral home.
