MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT
BISHOP-WHITLOCK
Mr. Eulys Bishop and Miss Elsie Whitlock were married at the
residence of Rev. W. E. Anderson on South Waverly Drive in
Dallas last Monday night at 8:30 o'clock.
In the wedding party that left Carrollton were: Mr. Oliver
Godfrey and Misses Fay Whitlock and Bernice Kirksey, and the
bride and groom.
The ring ceremony was used and the Bride's former pastor, Rev.
W. E. Anderson officiated. After the marriage an enjoyable
evening was spent by the entire party in Rev. Anderson's Home.
The bride and groom remained in Dallas, shopping and visiting
friends until Tuesday evening when they arrived at the Kirksey
home where they were the honored guests in a six o'clock dinner
given by Miss Bernice Kirksey.
They will reside in Carrollton where Mr. Bishop has a profitable
barber business and where Mrs. Bishop will continue her work in
the Sales Department of Hudson-Davis Company.
The bride and groom come from the finest kind of families and
both are consistent Christian young people highly esteemed for
their stalwart type of manhood and womanhood by a host of
friends. The Chronicle joins a host of friends in
congratulations and in expressing delight that they are going to
remain in Carrollton. |

MRS EULYS BISHOP SHOWER
The ladies of the Union Missionary Baptist Church showered the new
bride, Mrs. Eulys Bishop in the home of Mrs. Lona Smith Tuesday
afternoon. Several from other churches co-operated. A composition
of the "Life of the Bride" was prepared by Mrs. F. B. McMath and read,
and contests and toasts were enjoyed. Little Earline Longmire and
Kathleen Nix were each blacked and dressed as a piccaninny, and
bore many huge baskets of gifts which they called "the washing."
Mrs. Bishop beautifully expressed thanks for the remembrances. Mrs.
Earnest James presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Loza Smith proved an
ideal hostess and everyone present has a delightful time.

Saves a Finger Eulys Bishop came near to losing the
index finger on his right hand Monday morning when he was working with
the engine on his car. He touched the fan belt which was not moving, and
it moved instanter and pulled his glove and hand with it breaking the
bones in the end of the finger and cutting the flesh to the bone.
Mr. Bishop went to Baylor hospital where doctors set the bones and sewed
the flesh back in place and dressed the other portions of the hand,
which were bruised a great deal. To forestall lockjaw a serum was
administered. He returned home Wednesday. He certainly came near to
losing a finger.

Active as Secretary For Carrollton School
E. H. BISHOP
Much credit for the building of one of the most efficient public schools
in Dallas County is given to E. H. Bishop, secretary of the Carrollton
School Board. He recently made a survey of the school needs and
recommended to the board application for a Federal loan to construct a
gymnasium and additional classrooms to care for the steadily growing
number of pupils in the school. Negotiations are underway with the
public works administration with chances good for favorable action.
