OBITUARY
 
Brian Eugene Bittner
August 31, 1968 - February 21, 2021

Brian Eugene Bittner, 52, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, February 21, 2021, at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born August 31, 1968, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Nancy (Wymore) Bittner. He attended Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas.

Brian started working at the age of 14, helping his uncle clean swimming pools. He later took a job at a 7-11 convenience store during his high school years. He also worked at Malibu Grand Prix, Popeye’s, Long John Silver’s and other various jobs. He moved to Oskaloosa and began working at Pella Corp. He was employed for 14 years until disability forced him to retire. Brian enjoyed messing around on his computer, playing bingo, drawing and woodworking.

His family includes his significant other, Tami Bringman of Oskaloosa; a son, Tyler Bringman of Oskaloosa; a granddaughter, Auttumn Bringman; his mother, Nancy Criss of Oskaloosa; his father Lawrence (Phyllis) Bittner of Battlefield, Missouri; a sister, Christina Smith of Oskaloosa and a step-brother, Doug (Linda) Vander Waal of Springfield, Missouri. Brian is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elva and Viola Bittner; his maternal grandparents, Harmon and Lena Wymore; a sister, Vickie Bittner; his brother, Rick Bittner and a step-sister, Kathy Vander Waal.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Del Bittner officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. The funeral will be posted to the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube page for those unable to attend. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, beginning after 12 noon at the Bates Funeral Chapel. The family will be present at the funeral chapel Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. to greet relatives and guests. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
