OBITUARY

Blair, Lorraine

Lorraine Blair, born June 10, 1933 in Brockton, MA, passed away on May 5th 2009. She is survived by her loving husband, David D. Blair, Jr. She is also survived by her three daughters, their respective spouses and three grandchildren; daughters Brenda Blair of Farmers Branch, Betsy Blair and her husband Jim Van Winkle of Austin, Texas, and Bobbye Bowdon and her husband Ken of Farmers Branch and grandchildren Matthew Bowdon, Katy Van Winkle, and Megan Bowdon. She is also survived by her two sisters, Claire Jensen of Taunton, MA and Linda Widberg of Canton, MA. Lorraine's life was dedicated to her husband, Dave, of 54 years, her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for crafting, quilting, reading and her adopted home of Farmers Branch. Every skilled stitch of her quilts was made with love and a special meaning, and each time she made a quilt for someone, she gave a piece of herself. The Farmers Branch Public Library was a recipient of her passion for books and reading. Lorraine gave countless hours to the Farmers Branch Library Board and the Friends of the Library where she made the Farmers Branch Public Library her cause. She recently assisted in creating an innovative new program that provides the delivery of books to the homebound in Farmers Branch. Lorraine was named Farmers Branch Woman of the Year in 1998 and was a founding member of the Farmers Branch Woman's Club, serving as it's President in 1971 and 1972. She served as first lady of Farmers Branch from 1988-1996, as the wife of former mayor Dave Blair and was a member of the Forward Farmers Branch Transportation Committee. She was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Aley United Methodist Church in Seven Points, Texas and Chapel Hill UMC in Farmers Branch, Texas. Lorraine touched the hearts of all with whom she came in contact. Acknowledgments can be made through the North Dallas Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Lane Farmers Branch, TX 75234, (972) 241-9100. Visitation will be Sunday, May 10th from 2 to 5 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, May 11th at 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway in Farmers Branch. Following a reception at the Church, the interment will be at the Keenan Cemetery located next to City Hall in the 2500 block of Valley View Lane.
