OBITUARY

Funeral for Charles Blalack, Carrollton businessman, set Funeral services for Charles Milton Blalack of Carrollton, president of Moore Lumber Co., and former publicity director of the Southwest Conference Athletic Association, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Carrollton.
Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery at Carrollton.
Blalack died Friday in Denton. He was 63.
A 40-year resident of Carrollton, Blalack was born in Plano and was a 1942 graduate of Baylor University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant commander.
After his military service, Blalack was publicity director for the Southwest Conference Athletic Association from 1946 to 1954, then served 11 years as a vice president of Skillern's Drugs. in 1968, he joined Moore Lumber Co. and eventually became president of the company, which has yards across Texas.
He was a trustee of the Carrollton-Famers Branch Independent School District for 12 years, 1960-1972, including four years during which he served as board president.
Blalack was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, where he was chairman of the administrative board, and was a past president of the Carrollton Lions Club. He was a life member and past master of the James A. Smith Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Margueriette; a daughter, Dian Moore of Dallas; a son, Mike Blalack of Carrollton; two brothers, Raymond A. Blalack of Sherman and James A. Blalack of Sun City, Ariz., and four grandchildren.

Charles M. Blalack Middle School

Built in 1985, the school is named fro former Carrollton-Farmers Branch School Board President Charles Blalack. Blalack, also a former R.L. Turner football announcer, served on the Board for 12 years, from 1960 until 1972, and as its chairman from 1968 to 1972. The school’s library is named in honor of Blalack’s wife, Margueritte, because of her faithful support of the school. Blalack’s son, Mike, also served as a member of the school board from 1982 until 1988.
