OBITUARY   David David Eckley Box, Jr. David Eckley Box, Jr. was born September 28, 1915 in Carrollton, Texas to David E. Box, Sr. and Ruth Dougherty Box. Passed away peacefully Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the age of 94. Graduating from Grapevine High School in 1932 and receiving a B.S. at S.M.U. in 1936, he became a Certified Public Accountant in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. Enjoyed a rewarding career of 36 years in Accounting and Banking at Magnolia Petroleum Company and later Mobil Oil Corp in Dallas, including Manager of Exploration and Producing Accounting. A member of Park Cities Baptist Church for 53 years where he served as Deacon and past president of the Berean Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kristin Michelle Day; and brothers, Joe N. Box and W. Donald Box. Survived by wife of 66 years, Jane Hixon Box; daughters, Nancy Day and husband, Richard and Peggy Box; grandson, Travis B. Day and wife, Veronica; and sisters, Mary Ruth Jones and Evelyn D. Smith. The family will receive friends at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Dr. Jack Martin will officiate a private burial at a later date.
