OBITUARY
1920
- 2013 Bob Elton Brothers, "Pa Paw", passed away on Saturday, March 23,
2013 at the age of 92. He was born on December 26, 1920 in Strawn, Texas
to Harve O. and Lorraine Ramsey Brothers. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal as
well as a Victory Ribbon and an Overseas Bar. When he returned from the
war he continued his work with Strawn Merchandise Company. He had begun
his career at age 17 driving the trucks that delivered dynamite. He
retired in 1997 after 60 years of loyal service as the President and CFO
of the company. Bob was the most devoted family man. His faith was
first, then family and fun. He was preceded in death by his beloved
wife, Gena Elizabeth Brothers; his sons, James Timothy Brothers and
Charles Robert Brothers. Bob is survived by his daughter, Gail Hughes
and husband, Doug: daughter-in-law, Barbara Brothers; grandchildren:
Kirk Hughes and wife, Alison; Shannon Gauger and husband, Kelly; Paula
Mokry and husband, Weston; Elaine Brothers and Trenton Brothers; and his
precious great-grandchildren: Maxum Douglas Hughes, Grace Elizabeth
Gauger and Mason James Mokry. Following a private graveside a memorial
service was held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill
United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, Texas with Rev. JoNell Lindh
officiating. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for
the loving care that Bob received at The Legacy at Willow Bend in Plano.
