Mrs. Geraldine (Jerry) Marie Kelson Burns
February 09, 1926 - February 03, 2012

Geraldine (Jerry) Marie Miller Kelson Burns, 85, of Leakey, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 03, 2012, at Lifecare Hospital in San Antonio. She was born February 9, 1926, in Port Arthur, Texas to Fred Max Miller and Florence Charlotte Oom Miller.

Jerry graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas and then began her teaching career, she attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas and did her graduate work at East Texas University in Commerce, Texas and the Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.

Jerry was a teacher at Hinds Jr. College in Raymond, Mississippi, Texas City I.S.D. in Texas City, Texas, Spring Branch I.S.D. in Houston, Texas and Carrollton-Framer’s Branch I.S.D. in Carrollton, Texas. She retired in June 1987.

Jerry is survived by her husband Sidney Earl Burns of Leakey, Texas; children, Michael Edward Kelson and wife Charlene of McKinney, Texas, Karla Kelson Shelby of Coppell, Texas, Kevin Jerome Kelson and wife Sherry of Frisco, Texas, Karl Joseph Kelson and wife Virginia of Corinth, Texas; grandchildren, Carey Patrick Kelson and wife, Kristy, Travis Edward Kelson, Robert Loyd Shelby and wife Blakley, Scott Edward Shelby and wife Erica, Erin Shelby Mueller and husband Doug, Logan Kelson, Kyle Kelson, Anne Marie Kelson, and Kevin Joseph Kelson. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Brooklynn, Kelson, Madison, and Parker; nephews, Mark and Chris Miller and niece, Jan Miller.

Pallbearers include Mike Kelson, Kevin Kelson, Karl Kelson, Rob Shelby, Scott Shelby, Carey Kelson, Leo Lamontagne and Robert Burns.

Mass of Christian Burial was held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012, at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Leakey, Texas, with Father Sady Santana officiating. Committal followed in the Leakey Floral Cemetery.
