OBITUARY Victim of
Car-Train Wreck Dies J. E. Butler of 11439 Denton Drive, a
retired Dallas County deputy sheriff, died in Parkland Hospital shortly after 11
p.m. Saturday if injuries he sustained Friday morning when his car was rammed by
a freight train in downtown Carrollton.
He became the county's 20th traffic fatality of 1960.
Witnesses said Butler, 70, was crossing the track in his 1955 sedan when a
Frisco Railroad freight train struck the car, knocking it 60 feet. Apparently
Butler failed to see or hear the train.
There is no warning signal at the intersection.
Funeral arrangements were pending late Saturday. The Dallas Morning News - July
