OBITUARY

G. C. CALLOWAY SR. DEAD

G. C. Calloway age 87 died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Minnie Burgess last Monday morning. He had been in bad health for some time growing much worse the last few weeks.

A physician was summoned about 1 o'clock and placed him under the influence of a hypodermic. When Mrs. Burgess came to his bedside a little later she found him dead. His death was due to old age.
Mr. Calloway said a few days before he died that he had no fear of death. He died early Monday morning and without pain.
Mr. Calloway was born in Missouri in 1835 and came to Dallas County in the 70s. He joined the Christian church about 40 years ago. He fought thru the Civil war. Mr. Calloway leaves six children, three girls and three boys.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Chesnutt at Farmers Branch Christian church and the body was interred in Farmers Branch Cemetery at 3 P.M. Tuesday. There were many beautiful floral offerings .
The pall bearers consisted of young men all of which were his Grandchildren.
There was such a large crowd at the funeral they could not get into the church.
The Carrollton Chronicle extends sympathy to the berieved ones.

Clinton Callaway, 84, born Missouri to parents born Kentucky, father-in-law, widowed, living with John F. Burgess, 50, born Texas to parents born South Carolina, farmer, and Minnie L., 47, born Texas to parents born Missouri, and their three children born Texas (Frank, 18; Clarance, 16; Luis, 13), 1920 Justice Precinct 2, Dallas Co., Tex., census (NARA Film T625:1794:278A). George is a great-grandson of both Agatha (Bramlett) White and Sarah (Bramlett) Callaway Brown.
