OBITUARY Oil Accountant Dies at 52 in Hospital
Here
James W. Chenoweth, 52, an accountant for the Magnolia Petroleum Company,
died Monday in a Dallas hospital. He lived at 3707 Granada.
Chenoweth was born in Dallas. His grandfather, who came from Illinois,
farmed many years near Farmers Branch. His mother, the former Miss Hannah
Keenan, was the granddaughter of David Keenan who settled in Farmers Branch more
than a hundred years ago.
Chenoweth's father operated a farm implement business on Elm near Patterson for
many years.
J. W. Chenoweth went to work for the Magnolia Petroleum Company as a clerk when
he returned from the Navy after World War I.
He was a member of the board of stewards of the Oak Lawn Methodist Church, a
32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the board of grand trustees of the
Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Lawn Methodist
Church. Burial will be in Oak Cliff Cemetery.
Chenoweth is survived by his wife; two son, James W. Chenoweth and Robert
Charles Chenoweth; two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Morgan and Mrs. Rex Stark, all of
Dallas, and a brother, O. L. Chenoweth of Seattle, Wash.
