Mike Childress also known as "HotRod", passed away Monday, January 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 1, 1960 in Dallas to Eugene Lebron Childress and Barbara Jean Childress. Mike married Debbie Woods on March 15, 1980 in Farmers Branch. He worked along side his mother and siblings as one of the owner/operators of Childress Fabrics and Furniture. Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Michael Eugene Childress II, his wife Christina, and Mike's daughter Ashley Connell and her husband Chad; grandchildren, Piper Marie Childress, who has a brother or sister on the way, Lyla Ruth Connell, Penny Lynn Connell and Michaela Ann Connell; mother, Barbara Childress and siblings, Ken Childress, Sherri Nyland, Deb Childress-Nickless, Brian Childress and Kristi Childress- Ranee and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
