David
Vaughan Claterbaugh
January 24, 1938 - July 20, 2011
David Vaughan Claterbaugh beloved husband and father born January 24,
1938 went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2011. David was born in Honey
Grove, Texas the son of Charles Vaughan and Rea Adams Claterbaugh.
He moved with his family to Carrollton from Bonham, Texas when he was in
the third grade, and graduated fom Carrollton High School. He then
attended Texas A&M. and spent most of the rest of his life in
Carrollton. He was a commercial roofer and very active in the Carrollton
community as a member of the Lions Club and the First Baptist Church.
David was very involved in the founding of the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and served on the Carrollton City Council for many years (1970
- 1982) during which time he served as Mayor pro-tem, and as such, also
served as mayor.
An avid baseball fan, he play semi-proball and later softball. He loved
music, especially that of the barbershop style and was a very talented
and skillful woodworkman and a poet as well.
Preceded in death by his parents, and a brother,
Danny, and a sister
Glenda Cates, he is
survived by his wife of 53 years Wanda; four children, Jeffery
Claterbaugh and wife Karla; Leigh Morgan and husband David; Dan
Claterbaugh and wife Robin and Joel Claterbaugh and wife Heather. He was
Papa to his 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. |

OBITUARY CLATERBAUGH, DAVID
David Vaughan Claterbaugh, beloved husband and father, born January 24,
1938 went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2011. David was born in Honey Grove,
Texas but spent most of his life in Carrollton. He was active in the Carrollton
community and served on the City Council for many years. He is survived by his
wife of 53 years Wanda, four children, Jeffery Claterbaugh and wife Karla, Leigh
Morgan and husband David, Dan Claterbaugh and wife Robin and
Joel Claterbaugh
and wife Heather. He was Papa to his 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Services for David will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home, Saturday July 23 at 11
am. Visitation will be Friday night from 6-8 pm at Rhoton Funeral Home. In lieu
of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the American Lung Association
of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
