OBITUARY

In Memory of
Laurel Clements
January 10, 1978 - October 16, 2014

Laurel Anne Clements, née Grygar, was born on January 10, 1978, to Norbert and D. Lynn Grygar in Dallas, Texas.
She returned to her heavenly Father on October 16, 2014.
Laurel grew up in the Dallas area. She attended Mary Immaculate Catholic School in Farmers Branch and R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton where she played for the school soccer team. Following her graduation from high school, she studied abroad in Spain, repeating her senior year of high school as part of the Rotary International Exchange Program. After her travels, Laurel graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from the Plan II Program and a bachelor's degree in Psychology. After college, Laurel married the love of her life, David Clements, in 2002. She then earned a master's degree in Theology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
Laurel was a courageous fighter, facing both breast cancer and leukemia with patience, poise, grace, and humor. Her happy smile and cheerful disposition made her a shining light to her family in the midst of her medical struggles. She enjoyed volunteering at her children's school and at her church and doing counted cross-stitch work for family gifts. She loved outdoor activities including camping, boating, biking, and sports. Her energy, drive, and abundant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Laurel is survived by her husband of twelve years, David Clements, and their three children Joseph, Rebecca, and Theresa, her parents Norbert and D. Lynn Grygar, her grandmothers Josephine Grygar and Dorothea Ottosen, her four siblings and their spouses, Michael and Alma Carolina Grygar, Matthew and Valerie Grygar, Noreen and Italo Cedeno, and Mary and Jason Graham, her two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William and Nancy Clements and Michael and Tisha Clements, her mother-in-law Karen Clements, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.
Funeral services will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, October 21, at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers please donate to Wonders and Worries at www.wondersandworries.org.
