the 5th child born to Andrew and Zona Pearl Honeycutt. Lillie was
baptized as a teenager and remained a faithful member of the Church of
Christ all of her life.
Lillie graduated from Sam Norwood High School in 1940. On October 26,
1940, Lillie married Tom Clevenger in Shamrock, Texas. They worked as
tenant farmers until 1942 when Tom was drafted into the army. While Tom
served as an Army MP in England, Lillie lived in Amarillo and worked as
a long distance operator for Southwestern Bell. Lillie's beginning
salary was $15 per week. When unions were formed, Lillie's salary jumped
to a whopping $36 per week. She stayed with this job for four years when
Tom returned from the war. They moved to Odessa, Texas where daughter
Sandra was born in 1946. In 1947 Tom and Lillie moved to Dallas. Three
more children were born: Carl (1948), Becky (1952), and Mark (1954).

known as a very talented seamstress. In later years, she made beautiful
quilts for family and friends. Tom and Lillie were members of the Webb
Chapel Church of Christ where Tom served as an elder until his death in
1976.
As the children got older, Lillie worked as a cashier in a Carrollton
school cafeteria. Later, she worked as an optical technician at Omega
Optical in Farmers Branch. After Tom's death in 1976, Lillie continued
to live and work in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch area. In 1982, Lillie
retired and moved back to Amarillo. She lived in Amarillo until the year
2000 when she returned to Dallas.
