OBITUARY

Nannie Colwell
Colwell, Nannie Margaret McKamy 96, died peacefully after a long illness on June 17, 2012. Margaret was born on April 16, 1916 in Richardson, Texas, to Lloyd and Maggie (Dalton) McKamy, descendants of four Texas pioneer families, the Myers, McKamys, Brutons, and Daltons. She moved to Carrollton at the age of two and graduated as valedictorian from Carrollton High School in 1934. She was a lifelong Carrollton resident and member of First United Methodist Church where she faithfully served throughout her life as a volunteer. She was active in the Peters Colony Historical Society and worked for years as the first curator at the A. W. Perry Museum in Carrollton. Margaret was a kind and gentle soul who touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She cherished her family and her extended family in faith at First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Rita, and husband, Fred Matthews, her grandson, Brent Haynes, and wife, Erin, and two great grandsons Collin and Keller Haynes. The family wishes to extend special appreciation to all those who showed such compassion in her care during her extended illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 6:00-8:00pm at North Dallas Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00am at Restland Memorial Park.
