BIOGRAPHY George Sham Conn
Born: 21 July 1921
Married Myrtle B. Bradley
Children: Emily E. and Carl J. Conn; step-daughter Cindy Griffin
Appointed Postmaster 31, May 1957
George was reared in Carrollton and still makes his home here. He
joined the Air Force in World War II and served as an aerial gunnery instructor.
After his discharge he joined the United Postal Service as a parcel post and
letter carrier in Dallas, later transferring to the Carrollton office. He was a
clerk during Mr. Isom's term of office, transferred back to Dallas but returned
to Carrollton in 1957 as Acting Postmaster. George retired from the postal
service in 1962. He has always been very involved in civic work, having been a
Scout Master and helped bring Boys Little League to Carrollton. He is a member
of several national organizations with branches in the area.
