ARTICLE J. A. COVERT IS
NEW PRINCIPAL AT R. L. TURNER
J. A. Covert, principal of Greenville High School, has been named the new
principal of R. L. Turner High School. The Board of Education Thursday night
awarded a two year contract to Mr. Covert, beginning August 1 of this year.
Mr. and Mrs. Covert have three children, two boys, age 13 and 9, and one girl,
age 7. They are members of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville and are
active in church work.
Mr. Covert received this BBA degree from Hardin-Simmons University in August
1959. He comes to the district with 13 years of public school work which cover
that of teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal. Prior to his
coming to Greenville in July of 1965 he was employed in Texarkana Public
Schools.
Newman Smith, Carrollton-Farmers Branch Superintendent of Schools, expressed
satisfaction over securing the services of Mr. Covert, saying that much time and
effort has been spent to secure the best man possible.
