Dorris Elizabeth

Dorris Cox passed away peacefully the morning of November 22, 2010. She was surrounded by her family at home as she passed. Dorris was 90 years old.

She was born Dorris Elizabeth Ford on June 12, 1920 in Dallas, TX to Viola and Otha Lloyd Ford. She grew up and attended school in Carrollton, TX. She married her husband Hilton Warren Cox on September 2, 1941 in Rockwall, TX and was blessed with 3 children and a wonderful marriage of nearly 70 years. Dorris was a loving & devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She became a hairdresser and owner of a hair salon for many years. After retirement, Dorris and her husband shared many memorable and happy years together owning 'The Memory Shoppe'. The antique business was a special passion for Dorris and she loved the years of traveling throughout the country finding treasures to fulfill her life's ambition. She will be greatly missed, loved and cherished always by her family and friends.


Survived by: Husband, Hilton Warren Cox, Daughters, Lynda Michelle & Husband Robert Wayne Moon, Bethany Susan & Husband John Vincent Tucci, Brother, Charles Richard Ford & Wife Jo Ann. Grandchildren, Jeremy Andrew Duyck, Joel Matthew Duyck, Elizabeth Michaela Land, Leslie Dale South, and Darren Lloyd Mitchell, along with many Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews.


Preceded in Death by: Son, Gerald Warren Cox, Mother, Viola Ford, Father, Otha Lloyd Ford, Sister, Katherine Ford Cox, & Great Granddaughter Chloe Michelle Duyck.


Graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Fitzhugh Cemetery located at 2540 Country Club Road, Allen, Texas 75002.
