OBITUARY COX
GORDON, JR, 64, of Addison, passed away unexpectedly March 10, 1992. Mr.
Cox was born in Dallas, Tx. on September 19, 1927. He was a Veteran of the U.S.
Navy during World War II. He operated the barber shop at Brookhaven County Club
and was a top golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Cox,
who he married August 6, 1973 in Dallas. In addition to his wife, he is survived
by children, Stephen Cox, Cherly Vale, Michael Goetz; grandchildren, Shawn Vale,
Chris Vale, Heather Vale, Justin Goetz; sister, Joanne Clark; and a host of
loving family members. Services, 4:00 P.M., Thursday, 3-12-92, First Baptist
Church of Farmers Branch. Rev. W. W. Baker officiating.
Interment, Farmers Branch Cemetery.

OBITUARY Rites today for
barber Gordon Cox
Services for Gordon Cox Jr., who operated a barbershop at Brookhaven Country
Club for 18 years, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in
Farmers Branch. Burial will follow at Farmers Branch Cemetery
.
Mr. Cox, 64, died of a heart attack Tuesday at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
A native of Dallas, Mr. Cox had lived in Farmers Branch for 20 years. The son of
a barber, he attended Barber Training School in downtown Dallas and began
cutting hair in 1952.
Mr. Cox operated Walnut Hill Barber Shop, formerly his father's shop, near
Bachman Lake before moving to Brookhaven in the early 1970s.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Elks Club
and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Cox of Farmers Branch; sons, Stephen Cox
of Irving and Michael Goetz of Denton; daughter, Cheryl Vale of Houston; sister,
Joanne Clark of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
