OBITUARY

Stephen Cody Cox
July 10, 1948 - November 14, 2014

Stephen "Steve" Cody Cox, 66, loving brother and uncle, entered into life eternal on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at a local hospital in Dallas following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Graveside service: 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

Steve was born on July 10, 1948, the son of the late Gordon Cox Jr. and the late Jean Dale Mayo Cox in Dallas, Texas. He would attend school in the Carrollton area, graduating from R.L. Turner High School.

Shortly after high school, he would join the US Army, serving as a medic in Korea during the Vietnam War era. Because of the Vietnam War, little was published about the conflict in Korea during this time. Some of that particular history may be viewed at http://www.koreanwar.org/html/dmz_war.html. It is known that South Korea now still exist because of the brave efforts of the US military during that period of time.

When he was younger, Steve's father worked as a barber at Brookhaven Country Club. His associations would allow him to serve as caddie to professional golfer, Lon Hinkle. His love for golf would become a integral part of his life, and he would play as often as possible.

During his illness, he never lost his sense of humor. He was gregarious and fun to be around. He had an easy way around ladies, and his flirty ways could make them comfortable. He helped his family as caregiver to his mother, 2 grandmothers and an aunt. He often joked he was in charge of "DDTs" (dogs, dishes and trash).

He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Vale and her husband John; nephews, Shawn Vale, Christopher Vale, Matthew Vale and a niece, Heather Vale Robertson.
