OBITUARY Westside Farmer Dies
Carrollton people were shocked Saturday when word was brot here that Joe H.
Crow, successful farmer from across the river to the west, had passed away at
the Harris Sanitarium following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Crow had been
in Carrollton Tuesday as was seemingly fairly well. Later he was taken
sick but managed to get home without aid. Growing worse he was taken to the
Harris Sanitarium in Ft. Worth where he was operated upon. His appendix had
ruptured and he was in a most serious condition and he died at 1:15 p.m.
Saturday.
Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Chas.
Thompson, assisted by Rev. D. A. Ross, conducting the services. Interment was in
Forest Lawn cemetery. A large concourse of friends followed to the last resting
place to show the sympathy and respect due one who had lived all of his life
among them in such an upright manner. There was a bounteous floral offering.
Carrollton business houses closed for two hours during the funeral.
Joe Crow was born in Dallas county, near Coppel, June 13, 1860, and had lived
here all of his life. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, also of the
Knights of Pythias. He leaves to mourn; His wife, three sons: Leroy, Ralph and
W. T., four daughters; Lucy, Juanita, and Jettie Bee; all of Carrollton, and
Mrs. Sam Boles of Ft. Worth; four brothers, Arthur and Will of San Antonio, John
of Alice, and Ed of Galveston, a sister, Mrs. Lucy Savage of San Antonio.
