OBITUARY

Westside Farmer Dies

Carrollton people were shocked Saturday when word was brot here that Joe H. Crow, successful farmer from across the river to the west, had passed away at the Harris Sanitarium following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Crow had been in Carrollton Tuesday as was seemingly fairly well.  Later he was taken sick but managed to get home without aid. Growing worse he was taken to the Harris Sanitarium in Ft. Worth where he was operated upon. His appendix had ruptured and he was in a most serious condition and he died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Chas. Thompson, assisted by Rev. D. A. Ross, conducting the services. Interment was in Forest Lawn cemetery. A large concourse of friends followed to the last resting place to show the sympathy and respect due one who had lived all of his life among them in such an upright manner. There was a bounteous floral offering. Carrollton business houses closed for two hours during the funeral.
Joe Crow was born in Dallas county, near Coppel, June 13, 1860, and had lived here all of his life. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, also of the Knights of Pythias. He leaves to mourn; His wife, three sons: Leroy, Ralph and W. T., four daughters; Lucy, Juanita, and Jettie Bee; all of Carrollton, and Mrs. Sam Boles of Ft. Worth; four brothers, Arthur and Will of San Antonio, John of Alice, and Ed of Galveston, a sister, Mrs. Lucy Savage of San Antonio.
