OBITUARY
 
Michael Wayne Crowder
1951- 2023

Michael "Mike" Wayne Crowder of Pilot Point, TX, died October 28, 2023 at the age of 72. Born and raised in Carrollton, TX, Mike spent all of his life in service to his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Crowder and Foy Crowder (née Riney). He is survived by his loving wife Virginia "Ginger" Crowder (née Brooks), his granddaughters Jessica and Jennifer Lucas, his daughter Michele Seese (née Crowder), and his brother Patrick "Pat" Crowder.

Born in 1951, Mike was the oldest of two children. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in the class of 1969. Mike was an avid baseball player in his younger years, pitching for the R.L. Turner Lions and later the Fort Worth Cats, and he spent his later years teaching the sport (and everything else he knew) to his granddaughters. The majority of Mike's life was spent in various forms of public service, from his detective work across multiple North Texas counties to his long tenure as a firefighter in Carrollton. He also served his country in the United States Army. Mike spent the last 53 years of his life as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

Visitation was held 1:00PM-2:00PM, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX and the funeral service began at 2:00PM with Pastor Brandon McCarroll officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, TX. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
