OBITUARY
James
Harold Currin
Wednesday, February 4th, 1931 - Saturday, November 20th, 2021
Memorial services for James Currin, 90, of Athens, will be announced at
a later date.
Mr. Currin passed away November 20, 2021, in Athens.
James Harold Currin was born February 4, 1931 in Commerce, the son of
Albert Currin and Mattie (Hannah) Ship. He graduated from Commerce High
School and attended East Texas State University in Commerce where he
graduated with a bachelor’s degree. James taught school for many years
with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. After
teaching school, he owned and operated H&S Plumbing in Dallas for 15
years before moving to the Athens area where he owned and operated
National Supply Company for 35 years. James enjoyed hunting, was
outgoing, never met a stranger and had an infectious laugh. He will be
missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy (Tompkins) Currin
and sister, Norma Gravely.
Survivors include sons, Steve Currin and wife Peggy of Athens, Brett
Currin and wife Anna of Athens; grandchildren, Kelly Bennett and husband
Bobby, Brett Currin, Jr. and wife Lydia; great grandchildren, Alyssa
Bennett, Cole Bennett, Chase Bennett, Rosie Currin and Sammie Currin.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home
family. |
