OBITUARY
 BRYAN
PORTER CURRY
1975 - 2022
Dr. Bryan Porter Curry, beloved husband, father, son and brother passed
away June 18, 2022 surrounded by his wife Kathy, daughter and parents.
Born January 1, 1975 to Richard and Linda Curry in Dallas, Bryan was a
graduate of RL Turner High School, Texas A&M University, UT Houston
Medical School and UT Southwestern Medical School with a specialty in
Pediatric Anesthesiology. He practiced at UT Southwestern and later as a
contract physician until diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2017. He loved
children and whenever possible carried them into the OR. He was admired
by coworkers and patients alike.
Bryan had a happy childhood and was a wonderful athlete. As a teenager
he played club soccer for the Comets 75, winning 4 State and 3 United
States Regional Championships and finishing Silver Medalists at
Nationals. He was famous for taking penalty kicks and shootouts, never
missing a goal. He was also legendary for his video game prowess winning
a National Championship.
Bryan cherished life, putting his family and friends above all else. He
had a kind heart and a
wonderful sense of humor. He could always make you laugh. Bryan had
diverse interests. He enjoyed poker and was frequently given
complimentary rooms at the WinStar Casino where he and Kathy shared
getaway weekends. He loved comedy, often going to Comedy Clubs and even
performing himself (parents not allowed). Bryan was in the process of
writing a children’s book.
Bryan has two children, Micah Porter and Madison Grace, from his
marriage with Theresa Garcia. He loved them deeply and was proud of
their many accomplishments. He lived to see them grow to beautiful,
intelligent, responsible young adults with bright futures. No parent
could ask for more.
Bryan met the love of his life, Kathy Sheehan, in 2015 and married her
in 2020. He found true happiness and enjoyed each day to the fullest. He
was a devoted husband and tried each day to make her feel loved. He
enjoyed traveling and they took many wonderful trips together. Bryan was
a proud grandfather to Kathy’s granddaughter Layla Petty. He loved their
miniature Yorkshire Terrier. Vader provided companionship the past two
years and was the feature character in his children’s book.
Bryan leaves behind his wife Kathy; children Micah and Madison; parents
Richard and Linda; sister Cassie and her family Greg, Claire and Rowan;
and Aunts Judy, Tessie and Betty, and a shared granddaughter Layla
Petty.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday, June 30 from
3-5 PM at North Dallas Funeral Home in Farmers Branch. A family
graveside service is pending. |
