OBITUARY
"Mrs. Mary C. Davis Dead"
Mrs. Davis, wife of our fellow townsman, J. R. Davis died May 2nd from a
complication of troubles. Death came as a relief, for she had suffered greatly,
having sustained a broken hip as the result of a fall some months ago, which
refused to heal.
Mrs. Davis was born at Centerpoint, Kentucky on April 28, 1848, and was
therefore o little over 72 years of age at the time of her death. Her maiden
name was Ball and she was the second of a family of eight children, only one of
them, a brother is yet living. In 1866 at Centerpoint, Ky., she was married to
Thomas Evans. To this union three children were born. Of these, one has gone on
in death the other two are: Mrs. Ellen Myers, wife of Postmaster G. F. Myers,
and a son living in Kentucky.
Deceased united with the Christian Church in 1876 and lived a good christian
life. On Dec. 18. 1915 she was again married to J. R. Davis, of this city who
survives her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. H. Wylie, pastor of the
Christian Church here. Interment took place at the
Farmers Branch cemetery, Monday,
May 3.
