OBITUARY
 
Dobceka, John R. of Coppell passed away April 13, 2011. He was born on September 17, 1917. Preceded in death by his son John R. Dobecka, Jr. and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vickie and five children, Vickie Lynn, Patty, Jimmy, Mark, Kim and their spouses. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation and Rosary Friday 6-8 pm Rhoton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at 2 pm Sat. Mary Immaculate Church. Interment, Calvary Hill Cemetery.

OBITUARY

John R. Dobecka, Sr., was born on September 17, 1917. He was born and raised in Coppell, Texas. John was one of nine children from the family of Frank and Mary Naizer Dobecka, and was recently honored at the Dobecka Reunion as being one of fourteen remaining first-generation American-born cousins.

John passed away at his home in Coppell, Texas on April 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his son John R. Dobecka, Jr. and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vickie and five children; Vickie Lynn Weaver, Patty Miller, Jimmy Dobecka, Mark Dobecka, Kim Holt and their spouses. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

John served in the Army for 3-1/2 years during World War II, mostly in the Pacific Islands. He was awarded three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for valor for serving his country. He loved telling of the places he had been.

John was one of the founding fathers of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. He served on the Coppell City Council and Volunteer Fire Dept. as the community was important to him. He was also a member of the Exchange Club. John was a great father who was involved with his children's activities and served as a leader of the Coppell 4-H Posse riding club, leading the youth in many rodeos and parades. His love of family, church and community tells the story of a wonderful man. He will be missed.

There will be a Visitation and Rosary from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 15th at the Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 S. Interstate 35e, Carrollton, TX. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16th at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy., Farmers Branch, TX. 972-243-7104. Burial will follow at the Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas. Arrangements under the direction of Rhoton Funeral Home, Carrollton, TX.
