Dortch, H. Wayne, CPCU, CLU

H. Wayne Dortch, 77, of Dallas, TX passed away surrounded by loved ones in this home on Dec. 21, 2008 after a mercifully short battle with brain cancer. He was born in Corsicana, TX. He graduated from North Dallas High School, and from North Texas State College. He started his insurance career with ECC/TEIA in 1952. He left these companies in 1992 as Executive Vice President to form the EGI Group. He retired as President and CEO at the end of 1998, after a career of more than 46 years. He was an active member of the Preston Road Church of Christ. He was active in the Dallas Rotary, president of the board at the Athena, past member of the board at the Park Cities Club, and active in various other civil groups. He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Alice Marie Camilleri Dortch, by his daughters, Marinell Dowden of Sachse, TX, Monique Bower of Coppell, TX, Michelle Allen of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Marlene Thomson of Carrollton, TX, and Marcella Stark of College Station, TX, by his brother, Ken Dortch of Dallas, TX, and 12 grandchildren. Viewing 5-7 P.M. on Dec. 23 at the Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home; private burial; Memorial Service at 10 A.M. on Dec. 24 at the Preston Road Church of Christ.
