OBITUARY

Jennie Duke
AUGUST 11, 1930 – APRIL 3, 2022

Jennie Bowling Duke, was born on August 12, 1930 in Dallas County. She passed away in Houston, Texas on April 3, 2022 at the age of 91 years.

She was a housewife for over 20 years until the sudden death of her husband. She returned to the workforce, getting a job at Federal Reserve Bank, and she retired from there almost 30 years later. She didn't learn to drive a car until she was in her 30s. Few things intimidated her. She was stubborn to a fault, extremely intelligent, kept her opinions to herself, refused to participate in gossip, and was very kind. She was a great seamstress and sewed school clothes for her daughters. She sewed the girls' prom dresses. She was a very good cook. She loved sweets, cats, the beach, and taking trips with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Duke who died in 1975. She missed him terribly. Also, she is preceded in death by her son, Dayton Duke Jr.; her parents Rilla and Mark Bowling; her sister Patsy Bowling; her brothers Mark Jr., John, and Bill Bowling. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Collins (Gerald) and Debra Brown; her granddaughter Jennifer Oakley (Stacy); her great grandchildren Addyson and Jaxson Oakley; her brothers Arlie and Mike Bowling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held and she will be buried in Mahomet, Texas beside her husband and near her son.

She will be missed greatly by all of us.
