===============================
Mrs. Duncan Passes Away
Jessie E. Duncan was born in England, January 21, 1868. Came to America in
1878. She was married to D. D. Duncan in the year of 1885. Eight children were
born to this union. Two died in early childhood or infancy. The remaining one
are Mrs. Homer Milburn, Mrs. Tom Dye, Mrs. John Boyd, Mrs. Edwin Daily, all of
Dallas, Stanley and Archie Duncan of Carrollton. Her husband D. D. Duncan, and
twelve grandchildren also survive her.
Mrs. Duncan was converted in childhood and joined the Methodist church, of which
she was a faithful active member to the time of her death
Our Friend was a resigned and patient sufferer; uncomplaining she bore her
affliction. Friends were shocked to learn that she was so near deaths door. For
forty five years she walked life's pathway with her husband sharing each others
joys and sorrows. Mrs. Duncan was a loveable Christian character. The sunshine
of God's love beaming upon her countenance. Like the mother and grandmother of
Timothy she taught her children the holy scriptures, even very early in live.
Mothers example and teachings will always be a sweet memory to them, "Her
children rise up and call her blessed and her husband, too, praiseth her." Her
suffering is over. In the pearly white city of the New Jerusalem, there is no
pain nor death and not good bys. There is no crepe on the door know. Everything
is joy and life abundantly. Let us be resigned to Gods will and thankful that
such a character has dwelt with us these years. Today (Jan. 21) Mrs. Duncan is
not sick, nor on a death bed, but is spending her 63rd birthday with Jesus, and
I'm sure there was a glorious reception given her. Even the words of our Lord
when he said "Come ye blessed of my Father" She is enjoying the rapture and
glory that God has prepared four His own.
There is now a fresh mound in the city of the dead. It is covered with beautiful
flowers. It will not always be thus. Some glad day Jesus is coming again. This
grave will burst open and in the twinkling of an eye the quickened glorified
body will appear. How glorious will be the resurrection!
