Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer in Eagle County
A motorcyclist died Monday after colliding with a deer on Colorado Highway 131
in Eagle County. Gary Calvin Ellis, 53, of Flower Mound, Texas, was riding a 2002
Harley Davidson when he collided with a deer in the southbound lane at
approximately milepost 18, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The
motorcycle spun clockwise and rolled onto its side. Ellis, who was not wearing a
helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the southbound
lane. Ellis sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted from the scene to
St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver. He was pronounced dead from injuries sustained
in the crash at approximately 4:15 p.m. The crash was investigated by the
Colorado State Patrol. Eagle Fire Department, Western Eagle County Ambulance
District and Big Steve's Towing assisted.Post Independent Citizen

OBITUARY
ELLIS,
GARY CALVIN, 10/12/1952-8/7/2006 Gary loved riding his Harley and died
as a result of a motorcycle accident in the Rocky Mountains. He is
preceded in death by his father, Calvin Coy Ellis. Survivors include his
wife, Karen Ellis, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Patrick Nugent,
daughter, Kelly Ellis and son, Gary Nicholaus Ellis, mother, Christeen
Ellis, sister Kim Walker and family, and mother and father-in-law Alma
and L. D. Cannon. He also leaves behind the center of his universe,
grandchildren, Madelyn Renee and Andrew Ellis Nugent. A Service of
Celebration honoring his life will be held on Saturday, August 12 at
First United Methodist Church of Lewisville. The family will receive
guests at a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of
flowers, Gary's family would like for donations to be made to New Hope
Learning Center c/o First United Methodist Church of Lewisville. "John P
