OBITUARY John W.
Elliston, 64, Will Be Buried Today
Rites for John W. Elliston, 64, of 3215 Maple, native of Dallas County,
who died suddenly of a heart attack Monday near Irving, will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the Weiland Funeral Home. The Rev. G. H. Mood of the Haskell Avenue
Methodist Church will officiate, assisted by Dr. W. C. Martin of the First
Methodist Episcopal Church South.
Mr. Elliston will be buried at
Marsh Cemetery at Farmers Branch about 300 years from where he was born. His
grandfather, Harrison Marsh, settled in the Farmers Branch area in 1843. Mr.
Elliston spent most of his life in Dallas county. He was connected with the
Sheriff's department under the administrations of Ben Brandenburg and Schhuyler
Marshall.
Mr. Elliston suffered an attack while driving an automobile and died before a
doctor could reach him.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Mark Elliston; a brother, Marsh Elliston, former
Tax Assessor here, and a sister, Mrs. O. P. Thomson of Abilene.
Pallbearers will be John T. Orr, Oscar Dooley, Sam Savone, Porter Cochran, Frank
Sweeney and Ben Linskie.
