OBITUARY
James
Everett Embry, 78, died of natural causes on December 19, 2022, in
Farmers Branch, Texas. James was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May
30, 1944, to John Lester Embry of Indianola, Mississippi, and Lena Ganc
Embry of Corpus Christi.
James graduated from W. B. Ray High School, Corpus Christi, Texas, in
1962 and then attended the local Del Mar College for two years. He then
transferred to The University of Texas in Austin, Texas, where he earned
his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
After graduation, James moved to Dallas, Texas, to work in the aerospace
industry. His employers included Varo, in Garland, Texas, LTV in Grand
Prairie, Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) at the Michoud facility
in New Orleans, Louisiana, followed by Martin Marietta in Denver,
Colorado, and MacDonald Douglas in Houston, Texas.
During a downturn in the aerospace industry in the late 1960s, James
worked in the Department of Planning and Urban Development for the City
of Dallas. He later transferred to an engineering position within the
Department of Building Inspection for a lengthy time.
James married Debra DeWolf Embry at Mary Immaculate Church in Farmers
Branch, Texas, in 1973. They were blessed with two sons, Lieutenant
Colonel Andrew Embry, USAF, and Joshua Embry, a Texas history teacher at
a secondary school. Andrew has two daughters, Claire and Stella, while
Joshua has one daughter, Jade.
James' greatest interest was in history. Everyone who remembers James,
will think about his intellect, his interests, and his capability at
debate. James is also known for his avid support of Right to Life
efforts.
James is survived by his wife and sons, and by two brothers, Rob Embry
and wife Susan and John T. Embry, along with numerous nieces, nephews,
and great nieces and nephews, as well as the large family of his wife,
Debra, that includes sisters, nieces, nephews, and a great nephew. James
is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Embry, a baby sister,
Rebecca, and a brother, Terry, who died just three months ago. James'
family is at peace, although grieving, because they know that James and
Terry are with our Lord in heaven.
