OBITUARY
Kenneth
Wayne "Ken or Pops" Etheridge
Kenneth Wayne Etheridge, also affectionally known as “Ken” or “Pops”,
left this world at the age of 84 on Thursday, December 20, 2018. He was
born in Coppell, Texas on Monday, March 19, 1934. Ken was the
neighborhood handyman who was always willing to help those in need and a
creative artist. His inventive ideas never seemed to amaze those around
him, from the Frito Lay Truck he turned into his own personal motor home
all the way to the U.S mail collection box he purchased and turned into
a BBQ pit. Ken was always tinkering and rigging up ways for things to
work better. He was highly respected, and quickly liked by all that met
him. Ken will lovingly be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor,
extremely caring heart and his very laid-back personality, never getting
in a hurry about anything. He enjoyed fishing for crappie, manning the
trot lines, as well as square dancing and clogging with family and
earned the nickname “Cadillac Style” with his less energized replicated
dance moves, making them “his” style. A loving and funny story the
family will never forget is Ken’s refusal to drive on a toll road
because he said his taxes had already paid for them, especially toll
road 121, as he use to ride his horse down that same exact pathway. Ken
was a loving person to everyone he met, but the love shared between him
and his grandchildren was undeniable. He is preceded in death by his
parents and daughter Susan Alice Southerland. Left to cherish his memory
are his wife of 48 years, Barbara Ann Etheridge; daughter Linda Gibson
and husband T.K.; daughter Brenda Roberson and husband Joe: daughter
Rhonda Rinebold and husband John; son Toby Carroll and wife Pam Kirch;
numerous other family including nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great
grandchildren, great great grandchildren along with a host of loving
friends. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm, Wednesday, December
26, 2018 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd in Irving,
Texas. |
