Susan Camp Fogarty
RICHARDSON - Susan Camp Fogarty, 60, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, in Horseshoe Bay.  Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors Chapel in Allen with Richard Rehm, M.D., officiating. Burial will be in Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney.

Susan was born Dec. 29, 1949, in Littlefield to Bernis and Anne MacFarland Camp.

Susan grew up in Muleshoe. She attended West Texas State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in education. Her first teaching job was in Lake Charles. She received her master's degree from the University of Texas. Susan's next position was as a diagnostician with Amarillo Independent School District at the alternative high school. After marrying W. Tom Fogarty, M.D., on Sept. 3, 1981, in Amarillo, they moved to the Dallas area, where she accepted a position as a diagnostician with Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district. Susan's ability to connect with teenagers allowed her to easily move into her next role as assistant principal at Newman Smith High School, where she mentored both teachers and students for the next 10 years. She retired in 2003 as director of student services for the school district, after 30 years in education, where she positively impacted multitudes of students and educators.

After retiring, Susan spent quality time with her mother, sisters and other family members. She focused her newfound time and energies to enrich her life and those around her. Susan and Tom were able to travel more and enjoyed spending time at their weekend home in Horseshoe Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Becky Keith and Joyce Camp Rue. Survivors include her husband, W. Tom Fogarty, M.D., of Richardson; two sisters, Patte Camp of McKinney and Carol Camp Stimson and husband Dave of Plano; a brother, Bob Camp and wife Carolyn of Indiana, Pa.; and two sisters-in-law, Anne Bradley and husband Ray and Marie Fogarty, all of Canyon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Greater Amarillo Affiliate, Susan G. Komen, P.O. Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79159; or a favorite charity.
