OPAL JENKINS -
Brown-eyed Opal Jenkins will enter the Cadet Nurses Corps immediately after receiving her diploma. Along with Johnny Mercer, Alan Ladd, Van Johnson, and Betty Grable, commercial subjects rate high on Opal's favorite list. Her CHS activities include Glee Club, Journalism Club, Home Nursing and Basketball. Opal likes to dance but detests gripy people. Her favorite flower is gardenias and her favorite color is blue

Opal Marie Jenkins Foster July 26, 1928 - June 5, 2009 Opal Marie Jenkins Foster, 80, of North Little Rock was called home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 5, 2009. She was born July 26, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to the late William Franklin and Victoria Hawn Jenkins. Mrs. Foster was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Foster, a son, Danny Pittman, a nephew Skipper Robinson, four brothers, one sister and special friend Clive Thorn. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock and of the Order of the Eastern Star. Opal enjoyed life to the fullest. Some how, she kept going, even when a lot of us would have given up. She loved people and was such a good and caring woman. The last three years of her life, she could be found at Come n Git It (a local convenient store and grill), eating and visiting with friends who worked there and who patronized the store. He life was a blessing to all who knew her. Opal will be greatly missed. Mrs. Foster is survived by her grandson, Seth, four nieces, Carla Sue Boss of Dallas, Texas, Brenda Sadberry of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vicki Anderson of Riggins, Idaho and Gaynell Cheney of Dallas, Texas, one nephew, Larry Jenkins of Las Vegas, Nevada, a dear sister-in-law, Lou Ella Hodges of Las Vegas, Nevada, a step-daughter, Kathy Harris, step-son, Gordon Thorn, her adopted family, Mitch and Denise Chism (who stay with her and took care of her through her illness), her two babies, Fierce and Abby, and a host of special friends to numerous to name. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 in the chapel of Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Paul Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
