Well,
never thought I’d be the one to write a post like this…I want to share
that my dad, Dave Fowler, passed away peacefully Saturday night, March
9, in the comfort of our home on hospice care.
The days leading up to his last breaths are some of the most precious
and holy moments I will cherish forever. His family, his children and 10
grandchildren were all able to spend time with him, their Opa-D!
This week I have been pondering my dad and our lives. Like most, we
didn’t have the perfect upbringing and our family has been through a
lot. I can honestly say though that what the enemy meant for harm in our
lives, God has truly turned it into good- a good beyond my imagination!
There is such a legacy my dad leaves! I can’t even scratch the surface
here.
My dad is one of the most creative artists I know. He had a genius,
mechanical mind! He was someone with strong conviction and also taught
us to have convictions. (If you’ve even been in a conversation with Dave
or any of us, then you would know this)
He loved the word of God. It was his most favorite thing and person to
talk about! I will miss our long and deep conversations pondering life,
heaven, God, the Holy Spirit, scripture, space, time and so much more!
He was a life long learner, a pursuer of truth, he had a servant’s
heart, he was a good listener, a present father to all his kids, he was
the biggest supporter of anything we did. I will miss him deeply.
…Even in his last days he said "God is refining me".
There’s so much more I want to say, but for now I’ll leave it at this…
I have hope we get to see him again someday because Jesus made the way
for us to get back home, home to the Father. A reality that felt more
real, in the last two days of his life, than anything else I’ve
experienced. We will miss him, but we know where he is and who he is
with.
(There is no memorial service planned at the moment. When my siblings
and I plan the date, we will update that here for anyone who is wanting
to join.)Posted by Alysia Mills (Aly) on March 15, 2024 |
