OBITUARY SARAH RUTH FULLER
FULLER, SARA RUTH was born April 29, 1918 in Port Arthur, Texas to William R.
and Clara Lucille Fuller. She passed away April 26, 2004 in a local nursing home
in Carrollton, TX. She is survived by one brother Wm. R. Fuller & wife Helen of
Ft. Worth; nephews John Fuller & wife Gayle of Ft. Worth, Don Fuller of Seattle,
WA; nieces Belinda Ruth Jones of Tulsa, OK, Teresa Burkhardt & Bill of North
Carolina; and special friend Erma Nell White. She also leaves a host of beloved
friends who she considered extended family. After growing up in Port Arthur, she
attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX where she received a degree
in library science. She moved to Corpus Christi after teaching a short time in
east Texas. Her job during WWII was to work in a chemical plant to help with the
war effort. Afterwards, she drove a bookmobile for the County Library system to
deliver books to the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. Her first love was always
in the world of books and subsequently became a school librarian in the Corpus
Christi Public Schools where she remained until 1954. She returned to work on
her Masters degree at TWU in Denton in 1954 and then became employed by the
Dallas Schools for the next twenty-one years. She completed her career in the
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD as the first librarian for the Newman Smith High
School, retiring in 1978. Services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, April 30,
2004 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. Restland 972-238-7111
