OBITUARY

Services set for John J. Galli, retired Dallas police sergeant

A wake for retired Dallas police Sgt. John J. Galli Sr. will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Dallas. A Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Galli, 58, died of cancer Saturday at Baylor University Medical Center.

His 34-year law enforcement career began when he joined the Farmers Branch Police Department in 1957. While Mr. Galli worked on the Farmers Branch force, he was elected president of the North Texas Criminal Investigators Association.

Mr. Galli joined the Dallas Police Department in 1964 and received numerous awards and commendations before he retired in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Mary H. "Pat' Galli of Farmers Branch; his parents, August L. and Margaret E. Galli of Dallas; two sons, John J. Galli Jr. of Carrollton and August P. Galli of Garland; a daughter, Mary E. Smallwood of Carrolton; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the John J. Galli Sr. Memorial Fund, Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 14032 Dennis Road, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
