OBITUARY
Mary
Gail Galyean
January 23, 1952 - July 29, 2025
Mary Gail (McDonald) Galyean of Lindale, Texas, passed away on July 29,
2025, at her home in Plano, surrounded by her loving family. She was 73
years old. Mary Gail was born on January 23, 1952, in Carrollton, Texas,
to Dewey Joe McDonald and Mary Louise (Green) McDonald. Her early years
in Carrollton helped shape the spirited and hard-working woman she would
become.
Mary Gail led a fulfilling life, marked by a deep love for her family, a
heart for service, and a truly creative spark. She held many roles
throughout her life; each one approached with commitment and enthusiasm.
She worked as a lifeguard in Carrollton, took pride in her work with the
U.S. Postal Service in Lavon, Texas, and was once recognized as the top
salesperson at Laurel Land in Dallas. For over 20 years, she dedicated
herself to a career at Bank of America, ultimately retiring as a Loan
Officer.
On March 4, 1995, Mary Gail married Edward Dale Galyean in Rockwall,
Texas. Their marriage was filled with partnership, laughter, and love.
She also shared a meaningful connection with her first husband, Edward
Klonower III and wife Donna, and second husband, Michael Clark and wife
Diane (Omie), and remained a loving presence in the lives of all their
children.
Mary Gail found her spiritual home at Garden Valley Bible Church in Van,
Texas, where she was deeply active. She attended Bible studies and
church retreats whenever she could. As a proud member of the “Sunshine
Girls” hospitality group, she joyfully brought food and flowers to
church members going through difficult times. One of her most beloved
yearly traditions was helping with Summer Vacation Bible School, an
event she not only supported but brought her grandchildren to
participate in.
Her passions extended into her home and hobbies. Mary Gail had a
remarkable gift for decorating - her artistic flair and eye for design
turned any space into something out of a magazine. Whether it was her
own home or someone else’s, she had a unique ability to transform rooms
into welcoming, beautiful spaces. She made it a point that anyone who
entered her home felt not just welcomed, but truly at home.
Mary Gail will be remembered for her vivacious and effervescent
personality. Her positive attitude radiated even during her struggles
and life’s hardest moments. Nonetheless, she faced challenges with a
smile and her signature thumbs-up, lifting the spirits of those around
her - family, friends, and even medical staff. Her trust in the Lord
never wavered, and she led by example, gently encouraging others to rely
on their faith as she did.
She had a heart as big as Texas, generous to a fault, and treated
everyone like family. Her energy seemed endless. She maintained her
13-acre property with impressive determination and grit, often taking on
physically demanding tasks with her signature can-do attitude. Whether
she was painting a dresser or hauling a tractor out of the shed, she had
a vision and a drive to bring it to life - often within the same day. It
was hard to keep up with her, and even harder not to be inspired by her.
Mary Gail was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Joe "Joe" McDonald;
her husband of 20 years, Edward Dale Galyean; and her previous husband,
Mike Clark.
She is survived by her devoted children, Joe and wife Kandolyn Klonower,
Tricia and husband Don Chronister, Coleman and wife Jessica Clark, and
Michael and wife Jammie Clark; and by her first husband, Edward Klonower
III. She was a proud grandmother to August Klonower; Dane, Bella, and
Sophia Chronister; Madison and Cash Clark; Ava, Ali, and Liam Lefere;
Hunter and Brooklyn Clark; and Stone and Danger Clark. She is also
survived by two great-grandchildren, Clementine and Charlotte Clark. In
addition, she is survived by her beloved mother, Mary McDonald, and her
sisters, Terri and Stan Johnston, Pam and Bob Chronister, and Joy and
Mike Tillman.
Mary Gail Galyean was a blessing to all who knew her. Her energy,
kindness, creativity, and unshakable faith left a lasting mark on her
family, her church, and her community. She will forever be remembered
with immense love and missed beyond measure.
A special thank you to Healing Hands Healthcare, especially the nurses
