WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT

Carrollton Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Good of this place celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary Christmas Day at their home. They had with them on this occasion all of their children except Marion Good of Chicago. In 1878 on Francis M. Good and Adelia E. Nix were married at the home of the bride's parents, 2 1/2 miles east of Carrollton. The couple were born in this community; have lived here all of their lives and have raised their estimable family here; being thus a part of the community it was certainly fitting that this year Mr. Good should have been elected as Mayor of the city he calls home, and which place he has seen grow and develop.
This couple have seven children and also seven grandchildren. The children are Stella Kyle Nix, wife of W. D. Nix a Dallas contractor; F. Arthur Good, Clarence H. Good, R. E. Good, Leonard D. Good, Allen Good, all of Carrollton; Marion A. Good of Chicago; Edgar Good, who has a position in Detroit, Mich., but who is spending the holiday season at home; and Mrs. Lorena Good Johnston, wife of R. L. Johnston of Lone Oak.
There were present at this reception Tuesday evening, besides the children and grandchildren, Mrs. J. E. Southerland and son, Nix, of Wynnewood, Okla., sister of Mrs. Good; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Handley and daughter, Fern of Garland, Mrs. Handley being a sister of Mrs. Good; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moore of Farmers Branch, Mrs. Moore being a sister of Mrs. Good; Gayle Moore and wife of Farmers Branch; Dr. and Mrs. R. J. Gauldin of Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fisher and son, Homer J. of Dallas; Margaret Johnston; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stark, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Martin, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester A. Good all of Carrollton.
A huge wedding cake on a large table decorated with seasonal holly, and other greens, and candles, was cut and served to the guests, together with ice cream. During the evening Mr. and Mrs. Good received felicitations of the many people present, and Mrs. Chester Good gave a reading and a talk on the event as it had to do with the present occasion and also the occasion which gave it world wide significance.
Mrs. Good has been in poor health for some time past and when she arouse and dressed from this occasion Christmas evening it was the first time she had been up and dressed for several weeks. That she had rallied for this occasion was a matter of much satisfaction to the facility.

OBITUARY

Mrs. F. M. Good Dies

Her husband is known in the gates,
when he sitteth among the elders of
the land ....... Her children arise
up, and call her bessed; her husband
also and he praiseth her -
Proverbs 31:23:28

From our midst there departed last Friday night as the clock was striking the midnight hour a good woman beloved of all who knew her a gracious one., kindly to her neighbors - and she knew her neighbors - a dutiful wife, a kindly mother. Mrs. F. M. Good wife of F. M. Good, Carrollton's mayor, passed to Great Beyond after a lingering illness of many months duration, surrounded by her family whose well being had been her life work.

Adelia E. Nix was born May 10, 1860, in this community. Her parents were David and Mary Nix, well known pioneer family of the county. December 25, 1878, she was united in marriage with Francis M. Good and their life has been spent in this immediate community and was an open book to all their friends for they lived an upright life and reared a useful honorable family. A large part of their life was spent on a farm east of Carrollton but in recent years they have resided in the town and the care of the farm passed to other hands.

For a long time she had been suffering and all that medical men could do had been done to stop disease and to alleviate pain, but after so long a period of suffering she could no longer resist the ravages and death relieved what science could not.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church of which both herself and husband were members. Saturday afternoon at four o'clock and interment was in beautiful Forest Lawn cemetery. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Fred C. Eastham, pastor of McKinney avenue Baptist church, Dallas, prayer being offered Rev. D. A. Ross of the M. E. church of Carrollton. A choir composed of singers from the First Baptist church and Union Baptist churches supplied the music, while a special number "Face to Face" was sung by Edgar Spearman, Rev. C. B. Stanley of the Union Baptist church offered prayer at dismissal. For a number of years Mrs. Good had taught the Ladies Bible class and a special place was assigned them in the congregation and they sat in a body together. The pall bearers, family relatives, were Chester A. Good, Peter Bandley, Kenneth Handley, Gail Moore, Truett Good, and David Nix, Lucas Undertaking Company cared for the funeral.

Mrs. Good is survived by her husband, seven sons and two daughters, as follows: Stella Kyle Nix, wife of W. D. Nix, Dallas contractor; Mrs. Lorine Good Johnston, wife of Roy L. Johnston of Carrollton; F. Arthur Good, Clarence H. Good, R. E. Good, Marion A. Good, Leonard D. Good, Allen Good, and Edgar Good, all of Carrollton except Marion who removed to Chicago over one year ago. There are seven grand children. One brother, Harrison A. Nix of Carrollton, and four sisters as follows survive: Mrs. Tom Moore of Farmers Branch, Mrs. Peter Handley of Garland, Mrs. J. E. Southerland, Wynnewood, Okla., Mrs. Homer Fisher of Dallas.

"A good wife is heaven's last best gift to man." A good mother is heaven and eternity linked together. Mrs. Good was both a good wife and a good mother. Add to these a good neighbor and you have the sum total of a life that shall shed its influence upon this community for generations to come. She is no more but her work shall live after her. We mourn with this family in the passing of their mainspring but we rejoice with them in the fact that memories shall be pleasant and her deeds lasting. May she rest in peace until that day when we are called to our reward.

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the acts of kindness, messages of sympathy and beautiful floral offerings received from our many friends and neighbors in our sad bereavement in the loss of our beloved wife and mother
F. M. Good and family
