Dr. Calvin Grantham

Obituary for Dr. Calvin Grantham
Surrounded by his family, Dr. Calvin Grantham went Home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2018 at his home in DeBerry. Funeral services for Dr. Grantham, 81, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Bilderback and Rev. Dale Gary officiating. Burial will follow at the Springhill Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana. Visitation will be 6-8:00pm Friday night at Hawthorns.
Dr. Calvin Grantham was born July 18, 1936 in Whitt, TX. He was the younger of two children born to Charles and Flora Mae Grantham. He lived in Southland, Galveston, Tyler, Dallas, Bridgeport and Marshall. He graduated from John Tyler High School, East Texas Baptist College, North Texas State University and Fountain Gate Bible College.
Calvin was the sweetest most loving father, caring husband, little brother, fun grandfather, encouraging friend and advisor. His home was always open to whomever needed a meal or a place to stay. He was a pastor, teacher, coach, administrator and a father to the fatherless. Calvin loved the Lord Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to sharing the gospel. He had a heart for people and he loved life.
Calvin married Margie Jean Day and they celebrated 53 years of marriage raising three daughters in an awesome Christian home before she preceded him in death in 2011. He is also preceded in death by his parents and step son Keith Brevard.
Dr. Grantham is survived by his sweet wife, Ola Mae Grantham of DeBerry, daughters, Karen Darby and husband Mike of Longview, Amanda Grantham of Marshall, Becky Henricks and husband Tom of Blanco, step son, Kevin Brevard of DeBerry, sister Kathy Rogers of Tyler, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Bo Brevard, Dillan Brevard, Jay Darby, Drew Darby, Charlie Papenhausen and Tommy Henricks. Family requests memorials to: Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
