Services for Sgt. Ronnie Grimes of the
Farmers Branch Police Department
will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home in Irving. Burial
will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Sgt. Grimes, 47, who lived in Rowlett, died Saturday of a heart attack at Lake
Pointe Medical Center.
He joined the Farmers Branch department in 1977 and was a detective at the time
of his death. He was a Grand Prairie police patrolman from 1972 until 1977.
"He was well-liked, and he was just meant to be a policeman," said his wife,
Judy Grimes. "He was the kind of person that wanted to help everybody he could."
In addition to his wife, Sgt. Grimes is survived by daughter April Mack of
Terrell; son Rodd Grimes of Canton, Texas; parents, Fred "Buck" Grimes and Norma
Grimes of Holbert, Okla.; sister Dana Donnelly of Lewisville; and four
grandchildren.
