Obituary
Jessica Hanzlicek, age 35, of Carrollton, passed away Sunday morning,
September 5, 2021 in Penelope.
A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home
Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11,
2021 at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope, with Rev. Brijil
Lawrence as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near
West.
Jessica was born February 18, 1986 in Carrollton, the daughter of Johnny
and Debbie (Perra) Hanzlicek. She attended R.E. Good Elementary, Dewitt
Perry Middle School and was a 2004 graduate of Newman Smith High School
in Carrollton. While at Newman Smith, Jessica participated in four years
of theatre and orchestra where she played the violin. She also
participated in an after school program for the development of
challenged and handicapped children. After graduation, she went to
Northlake Junior College for initial credits and graduated from the
University of Texas in Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Degree in 2011. She currently was working as a registered nurse at
Parkland Hospital in Dallas for the past 10 years. Jessica was a member
of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch where she was
baptized, received her first Holy Communion and was confirmed as an
adult. Jessica enjoyed trying new gourmet restaurants, shopping,
traveling, fishing, camping, hunting, skeet shooting, floating on the
river and tubing with her friends. Her greatest joy was helping others
and she took so much pride in her nursing career. She loved spending
time with her family and friends.
Jessica is preceded in death by her infant brother, Jason Hanzlicek; her
paternal grandparents, Johnny and Pauline Hanzlicek; and maternal
grandparents, Andrew and Betsey Perra.
Survivors include her parents, Johnny and Debbie Hanzlicek of Penelope;
a brother, Jeremy Hanzlicek of Carrollton; her boyfriend, John Wayne
Straps; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are John Straps, Andy Grmela, Jake Parrish, Jeremy Roberts,
Spencer Ferrall and Jeff McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes
Association.
