Gloria Marie (McInnish) Hardy
1932 - 2016

NORTHAMPTON - Gloria Marie (McInnish) Hardy, 92, of Northampton, entered Heaven's gates Monday, June 20, 2016, at Linda Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert A. Hardy (1996).

She was born Nov. 20, 1923, in Lampasas, Texas, to William and Amanda (Vineyard) McInnish.

Gloria was employed by the University of Massachusetts Amherst for over 20 years and was past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Women's Auxiliary and a past member of Order of Eastern Star as well as a member of Edwards Congregational Church.

A woman of many interests through the years, Gloria especially enjoyed genealogy, gardening, and antiques, as well as cooking, bowling, cake decorating, sewing, knitting and square dancing. Gloria lived with an open heart and an open home. She and her husband found great joy many summers hosting inner city children through the Fresh Air Program. She welcomed many others into her life and her home. Her life was enriched the most by time spent with her family. She loved all being together playing cards and board games. She was an avid New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboy fan. Some of her happiest moments were the vacations to her beloved home state of Texas.

Sadly, Gloria leaves her daughter Phyllis Wanat of Sebastian, Florida, and Northampton, and her husband Gary Milo, Janice Day of Norfolk, and her husband Richard, Mona Wilson of Whately, and her husband Michael, and son Daniel Hardy of Florence, and his wife Watcharaporn. Cherished grandmother of Kari Litwack, Jeffrey Routier, John Wanat, Nichole Day, Kylee Day, Elizabeth Wilson, and Thai Hardy. GiGi to her great-grandchildren Rachel, Ryan, Brody and Lincoln. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the Texas area. She was predeceased by five brothers and a sister.

A funeral home service will be held Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery, 320 North Maple St., Florence. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thank you for the excellent care given by Linda Manor Nursing Home and Cooley Dickinson VNA Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Cooley Dickinson VNA Hospice, 168 Industrial Drive, Northampton, MA 01060.
