OBITUARY
 
Hazelwood, Dennis Wayne
February 24, 1946 - January 14, 2017

Dennis Wayne Hazelwood, 70, of Farmers Branch, Texas passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 in his home.
 
Memorial services will be held at 1:30pm Friday, January 20, 2017 at North Dallas Funeral Home on Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch with Wesley Dale Keyes officiating. He will be cremated along with his grandfather Coolidge’s favorite war watch, which traveled a long way from Wake Island to make this final rest.
 
Dennis was born in Winters, Texas to Dena Knight and Wayne Hazelwood on February 24, 1946. Dennis was the owner and private investigator for Paul C. Beasley and Associates until 2008, Prior to that he served as Police Chief of Flower Mound Police Department after serving for the Farmers Branch Police Department and the Dallas Police Department. Dennis was a member of the 1989 FBI National Academy class. He was a formidable golfer and an avid baseball fan that lived a life of service to others. Dennis was most proud of his involvement with the Sherman and Dallas chapters of Bikers Against Child Abuse. He was a patched member with Sherman since 2010 and was honored to serve as Road Captain for multiple years.
 
Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Dena Knight, and his father, Wayne Hazelwood. Dennis is survived by his stepfather, Henry Allan Knight.
 
Dennis is lovingly survived by a large family: his wife of 35 years, Cherie Hazelwood, son Scott Allan Hazelwood, son Brian Wayne Hazelwood and wife Brandi, daughter Jessica Dawn Leskaroski and husband Dejan, daughter Susan Brie Diamond, and son Blake Arthur Hazelwood and wife Allison. He precedes his two sisters in death: Sandra Cook and husband James Cook, and Rosalind Deatherage, as well as four half siblings: Donna Hazelwood, Kathy Hazelwood, Jennifer Hazelwood and Jamie Rockaway. He is also survived by his 5 adored grandchildren: Presley, Landon, Ben, Ari, and Elise.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’ name may be made to Bikers Against Child Abuse, Sherman Chapter at: BACA Sherman Chapter PO Box 912552 Sherman, Texas 75091. Dennis’ family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Bikers Against Child Abuse for their love and support.
