OBITUARY FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR ROYAL B. HICKS
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. for Royal Bedford Hicks, 56,
resident of Farmers Branch who died Friday in a Dallas Hospital.
Services were at the Farmers Branch Church of Christ with Brother Tommy Williams
officiating. Burial in charge of Rhoton Funeral Home was in the
Farmers Branch Cemetery.
He came here from Tennessee in November 1909 as a lad of 17 years to pick
cotton. He married Grace Pattillo Hicks in December 1911 and the couple
had made their home in Farmers Branch practically ever since. He farmed J. W.
Field's land 11 years and then went to work for Dallas County Road and Bridge
Work for the pat 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace
Pattillo Hicks; two sons, Alva and J. B. Hicks; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Beaver,
Farmers Branch; five sisters, Mrs. R. P. Rainey, Farmers Branch; Mrs. J. A.
Clever, Nashville, Tenn.; Mrs Edith Willingham, Allons, Tenn.; Mrs. Jewel
Willingham, Monroe, Tenn.; Mrs. Ellie Lynn, Livingston, Tenn.; three brothers,
Benton, Hot Springs, Ark.; Porter Burdette, Ark.; Farley, Livingston, Tenn.; and
